In 2018, a unique new power system was installed on board: An optimized DC-link bus with energy storage, which ensures the energy distribution between the different consumers.

This system saves 2 million liters of fuel annually. The annual reduction in exhaust emissions amounts to 5.5 million kilograms of CO2, 30,000 kilograms of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and 1,200 kilograms of sulfur oxides (SOx).

By the INDUR choke technology, STS importantly contributes to these savings and the energy distribution on board. The low, internal thermal resistance of the INDUR technology has enabled the energy density of the choke to be maximized, thus minimizing the component volume. Thereby, the losses of the individual chokes are not dissipated into the interior of the electronics´ housing, which would cause it to heat up, but 85 % of the losses are discharged specifically into the system's water cooling circuit.
